Hi, I'm Ashley! I am a mother of 3 wonderful boys and I live on a small hobby farm in Colchester. My passion for all things birth came after the birth of my third son. It was innate, powerful, primal... It was beautiful! It was also a stark difference between my first two births which were marked by fear, pain and uncertainty. This lit a fire in me. Every woman has the right to a nurturing and empowering birth. The way you birth matters! My approach can best be described as ancestral feminine wisdom meets modern medicine. I'll help you connect to your innate power; your feminine wisdom while providing modern evidence based information. Prenatally, we will explore birthing preferences, comfort measures/pain management, laboring and birthing positions and more. During labor and delivery, I will give continuous physical, emotional and informational support to you and your birth partner. I will also help your birth partner to feel confident in giving you the support you need. Postnatally, I offer two home visits offering support in newborn care, breastfeeding and postpartum adjustment. If this is something you are interested in, please reach out. I would be honored to support you!

Hello! My name is Brooke El Skaf and I’m the doula behind Beltane Birth Doula Services. I provide full-spectrum doula support to families in the Halifax area. Birth is such an incredible rite of passage that transforms your life in so many ways. My wish for all birthing persons is to feel empowered, supported, and held all throughout their pregnancy and birth journey. Working with a birth doula can be a wonderful way to ensure that you feel seen and cared for during this tender time. All birth clients receive two prenatal visits with me, receive in-person support during labour and birth (at home or at the IWK), and an at-home postpartum visit to follow-up after the birth. I bring my skills as a former NICU and pediatrics nurse, social worker, and researcher to help you feel educated, empowered, and prepared for whatever this journey holds in store for you. I am happy to work with anyone who feels a connection with me and have a particular soft spot for working with families going through pregnancy after a previous loss or fertility challenges. Hi there! My name is Em (they/them) and I am a radical doula for queer & trans, black and brown, and Indigenous parents looking for a doula to support with birth and postpartum care, HIV+ care, adoption, foster care, and recently blended families. For me, a doula is someone who has the capacity to hold the breadth, complexity, and care of a transformational experience, so that those centered in the experience can turn up the dial on their own needs, instincts, and inner wisdom. I believe that you already know what you need and have everything that you need for birth. I see my work as a doula to be an invitation to strengthen the pathways of community care and mutual aid networks that can work to keep us not only safe while birthing but for that birth to be as rich, full, and magical as we dream it can be.

Trena’s passion for birth and babies began at a very young age, when she frequently offered her family pets doula support (much to their dismay) and helped care for the many foster babies who her parents welcomed into their home. After graduating from university, she began pursuing her education in birth and postpartum, and has been supporting families for over 20 years. Trena continued on to become a Birth and Postpartum Doula Trainer and established one of less than 30 international Lamaze Educator programs. Despite her many years of formal education, her most influential teachers continue to be her partner and their four amazing children.
Trena is also an Infant Massage Instructor, Sleep Educator, Lactation Educator, Hypnobirthing Practitioner, Lamaze Childbirth Educator, Lamaze Program Director and Yoga Instructor.
